THE V&A in Dundee has attracted visitors from around the world since it first opened but its latest guest will have some added X Factor.

Television presenter Dermot O’Leary will host a special event from the iconic design museum tomorrow as he reveals the nominations for the National Television Awards.

It’s the first time in the 24-year history of the NTAs that the nominees have been announced at a live event and the V&A was chosen after it propelled Dundee into the global spotlight following the museum’s official opening four months ago.

Tomorrow’s event is a further boost to the city, which was named as a must-visit destination last year by Lonely Planet, the Wall Street Journal and The Guardian, and featured on National Geographic UK’s Cool List 2019.

X Factor presenter Dermot, who is hosting the NTAs for the 10th time, will be joined at the iconic riverside venue by Love Island winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham.

And, sources suggest, the trio might even meet the Bash Street Kids or the rest of the gang, from one of the city’s other famous cultural icons, the Beano.

Tomorrow’s presentation is a partnership between VisitScotland, EventScotland and the NTAs. The announcement marks the opening of the final public vote to decide the winners, who will then be announced at a ceremony at the O2 Arena in London on January 22. More than 10 million votes were cast last year in the 14 publicly voted categories.

This year, Scots actor Richard Madden and his BBC hit series Bodyguard are tipped to be among the big winners.
