DAME JULIE WALTERS has been serenaded by the cast of the Mamma Mia! sequel in celebration of her investiture at Buckingham Palace.

The Billy Elliot star was made a Dame Commander by the Queen earlier this week and her honour was celebrated on the set of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again with a special musical tribute.

In a video shared on social media, Dame Julie can be seen seated on a sofa on set with co-stars Amanda Seyfried and Christine Baranski when she is treated to a rendition of There Is Nothin’ Like A Dame from the musical South Pacific.

After the performance, she is embraced by Baranksi and presented with a cake in the shape of the medal she was given at the ceremony.

She told the assembled crowd: “Oh my god, I am so excited. It’s just like it!”

She added: “I’m going to be so bossy today. I command you all…!”

Looking at the cake, she said: “That’s heaven, it’s heaven. It’s much better than the original, I know I will be wearing this one.”

The highly anticipated sequel to Mamma Mia! will reunite original cast members Dame Julie, Meryl Streep, Baranski, Seyfried, Colin Firth and Pierce Brosnan, while Cher will join the line-up for the second outing.

It is due to be released in the UK on July 27 2018.
