A limited edition gin has been released to celebrate the 70th birthday of football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish and raise money to support The Marina Dalglish Appeal.

Merseyside-based Gin brand Tappers have created the handcrafted gin, named Dalglish 7, which is inspired by Sir Kenny’s fond memories of Scotland.

Launching on March 4, 700 bottles will be made available to purchase.

A donation from every bottle sold will go to The Marina Dalglish appeal.

The charity has one simple aim, to make a difference to people with cancer on Merseyside and beyond.

Since it was founded by Sir Kenny and his wife Marina, Lady Dalglish, in 2005, the charity has helped thousands of families on their cancer journey by contributing to pioneering medical projects, and by providing psychological support to breast cancer patients.

Kenny and Marina Dalglish

Marina Dalglish said: “I love Tappers Gin, and not only because they’re from Merseyside, but because they’re unique in what they do. I couldn’t think of a better way to support The MDA and celebrate Kenny’s 70th!”

Sir Kenny added: “I really enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane to create this special Tappers gin for Marina’s charity. Thank you to everyone for your support!”

Distilled with Tappers’ signature botanicals, alongside fresh berries and orange peel, the gin is described as being vibrant with fruity notes on the nose that give way to a light, sweet flavour on the palate with hints of strawberry and citrus, followed by a silky-smooth finish.

Tappers founder Steve Tapril said: “An opportunity to work with the one and only King Kenny – local legend and national hero – is an absolute honour and privilege. We’re really pleased to support the incredible charitable work of the Dalglish family and The Marina Dalglish Appeal through this exciting partnership.”

There are two iterations of the limited-edition gin available: The Collector’s Edition and The Supporter’s Edition.

For the £250 Collector’s Edition, Sir Kenny has hand-signed seventy bottles, each arriving packaged in a presentation box, and with Tappers donating all proceeds to The MDA for each bottle sold.

For the Supporter’s Edition priced at £70, the remainder of the limited-edition bottles will arrive complete with a luxury commemorative bag, and £10 from each sale will be donated to The MDA.
