A NEW YouGov poll has revealed what Scots love and hate about living in Scotland.

The survey, coinciding with Burns Night, reveals that there are two things we seem to love the most – the countryside and the people.

And when it comes to things we don’t like, there’s a clear winner.

The weather!

YouGov’s study asked participants to name the ‘best things’ and ‘worst things’ with many giving several of each.

41% of the 999 adult respondents said they loved Scotland’s natural scenic beauty, with 37% suggesting that the friendliness and warmth of Scottish people and society was something they liked.

Culture and identity and the pace and quality of life also scored highly.

There were variations in responses between ages, with 18-24-year-olds more likely to favour Scottish culture, identity and tradition than the landscape and people.

And being part of the UK was more popular among the young people surveyed than across the respondents as a whole.

On the other side. 39% of respondents mentioned the weather as something they dislike about Scotland.

Political issues dominated the list, with 14% disliking the SNP, independence and nationalist movements and 10% saying Wesminster rule, the English or the Tories.

The findings showed Scots women to be more unhappy with the weather, and just over a quarter of Scots named a political issue as something they didn’t like.
