Loch Katrine

Embark on a scenic voyage aboard a classic steamship cruise at Loch Katrine.

Classic Steamship cruises are back at Loch Katrine with the return of the historic Steamship Sir Walter Scott following her £750,000 restoration.

Loch Katrine is within Scotland’s first National Park, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, and part of the Great Trossachs Forest, rich with nature and home to Osprey who can often be spotted flying over the loch.

Cruises depart frequently from Trossachs Pier, which has eco-lodges, a cafe, a gift shop, and cycle hire.

Cycling is popular, with the option to take a bike on board the Steamship, sailing to Stronachlachar and cycling back along the 14-mile smooth loch side road. Katrine Wheelz at Trossachs Pier has hire options for all the family including e-bikes.

Launched in 1900, the Steamship was named after Sir Walter Scott, whose poem ‘The Lady of the Lake’ is responsible for Loch Katrine being considered the birthplace of Scottish tourism. A new exhibition on the pier celebrates nearly two centuries of the history of Steamships at Loch Katrine with stories of the crews who sailed them.

Outlander fans will enjoy cruising past a scene from one of the episodes. Steamship Sir Walter Scott is wheelchair friendly.
