PHOTO AND CAPTION BYRITA KLUGE/ 2019 NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC TRAVEL PHOTO CONTESTOn my last day in Antarctica, I was posting my last video update, I heard what I was waiting for and documented what was to come. A leopard seal was feeding on a penguin ... Iwas in a 7mm free-diving suit to be more flexible to change positions quickly. A normal encounter would be 20 minutes or so and I wouldn't be too cold afterwards, but this day was different, as we swam with three different leopard seals—brrrr. I felt safebeing so close to the action with my team. Just amazing.
National Geographic have revealed their editors’ top picks from early entries to their annual travel photography competition.
The competition, which is accepting entries until May 3, showcases the best in amateur and professional photographic talent from across the planet.
They are looking for shots “…that show us the world: its people, places, and cultures. Photos that tell the story of a place and travel moments that reveal what inspires you.”
