Sam Bailey Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow, Saturday

X Factor winner San Bailey stops off in Scotland and she performs her first ever headline tour of the UK.

The prison officer, who shot to fame on the 2013 show, had previously performed on cruise ships and at festivals, but proved a huge hit with the audience when she burst into song during her audition for the TV talent show.

Mum-of-two Sam, from Leicestershire, will play 15 dates across the UK to showcase the material on her debut album, The Power of Love.

Simon Amstell: To Be Free Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Friday

Following sold out residencies in New York and London, Simon Amstell embarks on his fourth international stand up tour – ‘to be free’.

With intense vulnerability and troubling honesty, the award-winning comedian, actor and screenwriter brings his unique brand of stand-up to Scotland, as he explores freedom, joy, love, death, adventure, art, peace, sex, regret, success, eating, suffering, dreaming, healing, forgiving and a whole host of other areas in this fantastic must-see show.

The co-writer and star of BBC sitcom Grandma’s House, former host of Never Mind the Buzzcocks and winner of multiple accolades including two British Comedy Awards and a BAFTA nomination’s sharp wit is a hit with audiences across the globe.

The Circus of Horrors Albert Halls, Stirling, Sunday

The show that stormed into the finals of Britain’s Got Talent and is now a West End smash is back to mark its 20th anniversary in spectacular style.

The latest incarnation is set in 2020. A decrepit corpse ridden London, plagued by Zombies, a city ruled by the undead and climaxing in an awesome flaming apocalypse.

The story twists and turns with grisly murders and sensational shocks all interwoven with some of the greatest and most bizarre circus acts on earth, including sword swallowers, knifethrowers, daredevil balancing acts, astounding aerialists, fire limboing acrobats and much more.

Blood Brothers Eden Court, Inverness, Monday-Saturday

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences. The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

West End star and multi-platinum selling artist Marti Pellow returns to the role of the Narrator and the critically acclaimed Maureen Nolan, reprising her role as the tragic Mrs Johnstone, in this smash hit musical.

Kaiser Chiefs Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Tuesday 7pm

I predict a riot! The Kaiser Chiefs are set to raise the roof in Edinburgh when they bring their hit album, Education, Education, Education & War to fans at the city’s Usher Hall this week.

Education, Education, Education & War was released in April last year and charted at No.1 on the Official UK Albums Chart where it stayed for two weeks.

It is now the Leeds lads’ second No.1 album, following 2007’s Yours Truly Angry Mob.

Fans of frontman Ricky Wilson and the band will be delighted to see them back on the road this year.

Scottish Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show SECC, Glasgow, Thursday to Sunday

Join thousands of visitors as the Caravan Club officially opens Scotland’s largest exhibition of caravans, motorhomes and holiday homes.

The UK’s leading companies will be showcasing their latest models in the biggest presentation of its kind in Scotland, where visitors can take advantage of exclusive offers and deals.

Yesterday Once More The Gaiety Theatre, Ayr, Friday

Prepare for an uplifting, enthralling experience while you float back to the ’70s.

Let Kim Dickinson transport you with her natural and uncanny likeness of voice to

Karen Carpenter while she performs an evening of songs that made the songstress famous.

This is a show not to be missed, especially for fans of The Carpenters, and you can expect all the hits that went on to become million-sellers including Close To You, Superstar, For All We Know and Top Of The World.

Selma At cinemas from Friday

The fact that British actor David Oyelowo missed out on an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Martin Luther King (the film was snubbed by Bafta entirely) seems to have tarnished the opening of Selma but it shouldn’t.

The film was nominated in the Best Picture category by the Academy and is an engaging and educational watch.

The year is 1965 and, despite the passing of the Civil Rights Act, states in America’s deep south continue to put obstacles in the way of black people registering to vote.

Jupiter Ascending At cinemas from Friday

Man-of-the-moment Eddie Redmayne looks very different from his award-winning role in The Theory Of Everything in this science fiction adventure. He plays the scheming eldest son of an alien queen who believes the Earth is his to inherit following his mother’s death.

But there’s an unexpected claimant to the throne in the shape of Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), an Earth-living caretaker who knows nothing of her intergalactic background until found by bounty hunter Caine Wise (Channing Tatum).

Sean Bean and Douglas Booth also star.
