As a Dundee United fan, I’m very sad to see Ryan Gauld leave the club.
He has been a joy to watch and thoroughly deserves his “mini Messi” nickname.
He is off to Portugal to play for Sporting Lisbon in a deal said to be worth around £3 million.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for the teenager, who is exceptionally down to earth.
He seems unfazed by the media scrum surrounding him and appears relaxed to be following in the footsteps of Lisbon legends like Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo.
It’s a massive upheaval for the young lad, moving to a country where he can’t speak the language, but I’m sure he will do well and become a world class player.
We will all miss him at Tannadice, but I wish him the very best for the future and at least we will have the consolation of seeing him play in the Scotland squad.
