A tour of Australia, babies and perhaps even a wedding all in store for the royal youngsters.
All eyes will be on William and Kate when they visit Australia and New Zealand in April. In terms of media coverage, it’s certain to rival the 1983 tour by Charles and Diana.
They were accompanied by nine-month-old Prince William, and it is likely that Prince George, also nine months old by April, will head for the southern hemisphere with royal nanny Jessie Webb to look after him.
It is one of many signs that the younger royals will come to the fore in 2014.
Kate celebrates her 32nd birthday this coming Wednesday. It is set to be a quiet, family occasion particularly with William, 31, beginning his 10-week Agriculture course in Cambridge this week.
And royal watchers believe the end of 2014 might herald an announcement of another royal pregnancy since both William and Kate have said they want at least two children.
Talking of babies, the Queen’s oldest granddaughter, Zara Tindall, 32, is due to give birth any day.
The new baby will be 16th in line to the throne and is expected to be born at the NHS Gloucester Royal Hospital, a short drive from Princess Anne’s Gatcombe estate where Zara and husband Mike have a house.
Like Prince George, Zara and her brother Peter, 36, were both born at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. This time, though, there won’t be rows of photographers camped outside waiting to snap the new arrival.
Since the mum-to-be is not a royal princess, there will be no announcement that she is in labour and the first we may know of the birth will be when it is all over. The new baby will be Anne’s third grandchild and the Queen’s fourth great-grandchild.
Mike, 35, said the couple wanted the sex of their baby to be a surprise: “I’m really looking forward to it. But I’m not sure how I’ve prepared. We’ve been pretty relaxed,” he said.
Zara added: “I hope we’re going to make good parents. That’s the plan.”
She also revealed she’d developed a new talent: “I love cooking and will definitely cook for the baby.”
Royal fans are also hoping for at least one royal wedding.
Prince Harry, 29, has been dating Cressida Bonas for 20 months. The couple were introduced by his cousin Princess Eugenie, 23, and Harry is reportedly besotted with Cressida, 24.
Despite having spent most of Christmas and New Year apart, they hope to fit in a skiing break fairly soon before Harry resumes his duties as an Apache helicopter pilot.
Last year, on US TV, he discussed the pressures of finding not only a wife but a future princess: “I’m not so much searching for someone to fulfil the role, but obviously, you know, finding someone willing to take it on.”
Meanwhile Harry’s cousin, 25-year-old Princess Beatrice, has been dating boyfriend Dave Clark for more than six years.
She introduced him to the Queen at Balmoral last summer, a sure sign their union has the family’s blessing.
So this year might be the one to watch for a few royal surprises.
