A SET of four lighthouse cottages on an uninhabited island are up for auction for the first time in 20 years.
The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottages on Ailsa Craig, off the Ayrshire coast, have a starting price of £175,000.
The four cottages, which have lay derelict for years, need renovating, with costs of up to £750,000.
The island is home to Europe’s biggest gannet colony and a 16th Century castle.
There is no gas, electricity or sewage but fresh water comes from two wells.
