North-east couple Ian and Nadine Forbes enjoy sharing their adventures in Aberdeenshire and beyond.

Through their Instagram page, @aberdeenshire_explorers, they share their favourite walks, beaches, monuments and more – with a few foodie finds thrown in the mix too.

Balmedie Beach

We picked Balmedie Beach because it’s like a hidden treasure just on the doorstep of Aberdeen and every time we go it’s empty, almost like a forgotten paradise.

With the sand dunes to explore and the long walk along the beach it’s a fantastic adventure with the family and four-legged friends.

Den Of Dun

Den of Dun is a beautiful place to explore, even more so in the summer with all the flowers in bloom. It is the most magical place we have visited so far with waterfalls, gorgeous nature and views galore.

We enjoy visiting here for lunch and dipping our toes in the water. Attached to this walk is the House of Dun, so you could really spend the day not only exploring the grounds but also the house.

If you are an National Trust for Scotland member then parking and a visit to the house is included which is fab for a family day out.

Jurassic Grill

This lovely family friendly restaurant is located next to Loch Lomond. You can interact with the dinosaurs and experience unique food, enjoy the view of the loch and the kids will have a wonderful time getting to know interesting facts about the dinosaurs and the different species.

It’s a lovely one-of-a-kind restaurant to enjoy if you are in the area.
