Are you looking to head out for a festive feast during the unidentifiable days between Christmas and New Year?

Look no further. Hannah McNab, better known as @hannahscranz on Instagram, has you covered.

Based near Edinburgh, Hannah is spreading Christmas cheer by highlighting the best grub across the capital this December.

Have you tried any of these spots? If not, it’s time to get booking.

St James Quarter

It’s great for shopping, but my favourite thing about St James Quarter in Edinburgh is the incredible array of food and drink on offer.

The Botanist is one of my top restaurants of the year. From their viral hanging kebabs to their crispy pork belly Sunday roast, everything we have tried there has been delicious. Definitely try the calamari which was full of flavour and perfectly crispy, the crème fraiche and sweet chilli dip complemented it perfectly. The smores cookie dough was also perfection, melted marshmallow goodness.

I also love Bonnie and Wild, an indoor marketplace with various stalls boasting different cuisines. It’s a great place to go with friends as everyone can try something different.

Gleneagles Townhouse

You’ll find Gleneagles Townhouse on St Andrew Square.

Their restaurant, The Spence, does what I reckon is one of the best brunches in the city.

Now this will set you back £85 per person but it is worth every penny. The Sunday Brunch club runs the last weekend of every month, live music and absolutely gorgeous food.

Enjoy a Bloody Mary or Mimosa on arrival, before indulging in a lavish buffet of unlimited starters, seasonal mains from the kitchen and the indulgent dessert room, where you can even make your own doughnut.

Eve

Another brunch recommendation – and another spot that made it into my top favourites this year – is Eve in Edinburgh’s Virgin Hotel.

We had a brunch board that was piled high with pancakes, waffles and French toast. eggs benedict with smashed avocado and bacon and a brunch burger with pork sausage and streaky bacon topped with a fried egg.

Everything looks amazing, but it is definitely not style over substance.
