HUNDREDS of entries are expected at a giant vegetable competition this weekend.
Cardwell Garden Centre, near Gourock, is hosting the annual Strathclyde Leek and Onion Society Show over Saturday and Sunday.
It’ll see green-fingered growers from all across Scotland show off their prized produce, including enormous onions, colossal leeks and king-sized carrots.
Huge potatoes, cauliflowers and beetroot will also be on display at the event, which doubles as a free to enter family fun day with games, music, a bouncy castle and face painting.
Cardwell’s retail general manager Paul Carmichael said: “These guys certainly know how to make their garden grow and people who come along to see the veg on display never fail to be amazed.
“And after visitors to Cardwell have marvelled at the displays of giant vegetables, they can have lots of fun at all the other activities we have over the weekend.”
