Lorraine Kelly: I must sing the praises of Strictly vocalist Tommy Blaize– and as for Joe McFadden, go on, ya dancer!

ONE of the great strengths of Strictly Come Dancing is all too often overlooked, and that’s the performances of the musicians and singers who provide the songs for the dancers.

So it was really good to catch up with the hugely talented Strictly vocalist Tommy Blaize who has been with the show since the very first episode.

Tommy and his team have to learn all of the songs and sing them live on the night.

They are so good that you often forget that it is a live performance.

Tommy has worked with the likes of Craig David and Robbie Williams, but now he is stepping into the limelight in his own right with the release of his new album, Life And Soul.

It contains some classic tracks, including Let’s Stay Together, My Girl and Me And Mrs Jones all given Tommy’s own twists and interpretations.

When you next watch, listen out for the songs as well as enjoying the dancing, and fingers crossed for my favourite Joe McFadden who has been a joy to watch.

Holby fans (and I’m a die-hard myself) will know that this week Joe’s character, Raf di Lucca, was fatally shot.

He actually left the series a couple of months ago, but managed to keep his shocking departure a secret.

I’d love him to win the famous trophy because he has gone from having two left feet at the beginning, to becoming a terrific dancer who is clearly enjoying every single minute of the Strictly experience, and that’s what the show is all about.
