The nation’s top soap stars put on the glitz and glam last night.

The 16th annual British Soap Awards took place at London’s Hackney Empire theatre. And Corrie stunner Michelle Keegan was showing her red carpet SIX appeal at the ceremony, held at the famous venue for the first time.

The 26-year-old won her sixth Sexiest Female award.

She’ll go from red to dead this week as her character Tina is killed off in a balcony plunge that is sure to be a big ratings winner for the ITV soap.

Fellow Street star Georgia May Foote, EastEnder Jacqueline Jossa and Hollyoaks duo Jennifer Metcalfe and Jorgie Porter were the others in the running.

Michelle, who’s relocating from Manchester to Essex to be with reality star fianc Mark Wright, said she had a number of other new projects in the pipeline.

But with Corrie being her very first acting job more than six years ago, she admits there have been anxieties over quitting.

“Initially I was so nervous about whether I was making the right decision,” said Michelle.

“This is all I’ve ever known so I’m going into the unknown completely.”

It was the first showbiz outing for fellow Street star Bill Roache since he was cleared of sex charges. The 82-year-old is set to return to work next week.

Danny Dyer, EastEnders’ Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter, was pipped to the post as Sexiest Male by Hollyoaks’ Danny Mac.

Best actress was won by Corrie’s Julie Hesmondhalgh for her moving scenes as Hayley in the suicide storyline earlier this year.

The ceremony, hosted by Phillip Schofield, will be screened on ITV tonight at 8.15pm.
