Rangers boss Ally McCoist hopes there is no prospect of the club selling their Murray Park training ground.

With the struggling club needing £8 million to avoid another disaster, the sale of assets has been suggested as a possible way to raise cash.

McCoist will leaving his post as Rangers manager sooner or later but hopes Murray Park will not be disposed of.

He said: “People forget that this is actually a training facility and the best by some way in my opinion.

“I would obviously be in favour of keeping this place on for the football club for as long as possible.”

The Ibrox boss continues to control team affairs and revealed that plans are still afoot to bring young players from Newcastle and other English clubs to Rangers in January.

He said: “We’re watching a lot of games, not just Newcastle’s reserves we’ve watched Stoke, Blackburn, lots of clubs.

“We’ll continue to do that and if we’re allowed to act, hopefully we’ll have enough information to do that.

“I expect the squad to be stronger by the end of January even if it’s not a dramatic change in personnel.

“I haven’t spoken to the Board about it at all.

“I will sit down with the Chief Executive and the Board in the coming weeks and months and discuss that.

“I am well aware of the financial struggles the club are having at the moment so I would imagine those circumstances would determine whether we can strengthen or not.

“Nobody’s said I need to sell to bring in money to get players in.”
