Kenny Miller has missed the Glasgow abuse!

Kenny Miller has missed being shouted at.

It sounds unlikely, yet Kenny Miller swears one of the things he missed most about Glasgow has been the abuse!

Rangers’ new signing has just swapped life in Vancouver voted the fifth-best city in the world to live in for a return to the banter so prevalent in the West of Scotland.

And, as he admits, his unique status as a former Celtic striker embarking on his third spell at Ibrox makes him an instantly identifiable figure whenever he is out and about.

“I honestly think that it doesn’t matter if you play for one side or the other,” he says. “If you walk through the city centre, then you know what will happen! There are going to be fans who give you a bit of abuse.

“Generally when you play for Rangers or Celtic, you would probably reckon half the city might support you. In my case, though, I think it is now down to about a quarter!

“But, listen, it is part of the goldfish bowl of Glasgow life and I love it, I really do. We will stay on the outskirts of the city, and I look forward to walking down the street in a few weeks and getting some stick!

“To be honest, the fans are great. I’ve never bumped into anyone who has given me real problems.”

At 34 years old, Miller is a more mature individual than when he joined Rangers the first time aged 20, and he’s busy plotting his future as a coach when he eventually hangs up his boots.

“That is my ambition 100%,” he says. “I’ve thought about getting the badges started for a number of years but it’s hard to get the time as an international player.

“There were opportunities in Vancouver but I didn’t feel it was the right time. But I do want to go on to it now I’m back in Scotland.”
