Former Rangers man Jordan McMillan is ready for Celtic encounter.
Jordan McMillan has waited nearly 10 years to play against Celtic.
And he’s urging his Partick Thistle team-mates to have a real go at the Champions in midweek.
The Jags go to Parkhead for a League Cup quarter-final clash on Wednesday.
McMillan is happy to be a secret weapon for the Maryhill men.
He said: “I’ve actually not played against Celtic competitively.
“I was suspended when I was with Hamilton, and then I’ve missed this game through injury with Thistle.
“I’m really looking forward to it from a personal point of view.
“I’ve been unlucky that it has taken so long to face them and this game coming at Parkhead makes it a wee bit sweeter.
“I’ve been on the bench at Celtic Park during my time with Rangers.
“The match that sticks in my head is the one where Pedro Mendes scored a spanker from the edge of the box.
“I knew it was in before he even hit it! I was jumping up and down.
“I’ll try and keep under the radar, and I just hope they don’t put it in the programme that I’m an ex-Rangers player. That’s why I’ve currently got a beard!”
The 26-year-old doesn’t believe that talk of Celtic being fragile at home should alter the way Thistle approach this tie.
He went on: “I was saying to the lads that you’ve got to have a go.
“People are saying that Celtic are vulnerable but that’s a lot of nonsense. They’re still probably favourites to win the League.
“It’s a cup tie. We should just go there full of confidence and just have a go.
“If you come away and get beaten three or 4-0, then people won’t turn their nose up to it and if you win 1-0. It’s brilliant. I think you just go and play with confidence.
“Celtic are one of those teams who are going to open you up anyway regardless whether you sit in or not.”
With Thistle now in their second season back in the top flight, success in a cup competition would help the club to keep moving forward.
McMillan added: “We need to get a good cup run because it’s always good for your CV and for the club financially.
“It’s the hardest tie we could have got, but we go into it with confidence.
“Imagine beating Celtic, then you’re looking at all the other teams thinking: ‘Well, if we beat them…’”
