Derek McInnes was a relieved man after Aberdeen scraped past Dumbarton to go into Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final draw. But the Dons boss is now sweating on the fitness of Peter Pawlett ahead on next Sunday’s League Cup Final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The striker, one of the stars of the quarter-final win at Celtic Park, missed out on yesterday’s 1-0 win after picking up a knock. McInnes said last night: “Peter is not ruled in yet and he is not ruled out. “He wasn’t fit for this game. “We wanted to play Peter against Dumbarton but he just fell short in the fitness test we gave him on Friday morning. “He has a few days to get himself ready for the Final and the medical staff are confident he will be fine. “Let’s hope he is but he is not ruled in yet.” That wish was shared Adam Rooney, who said: “Peter has been a brilliant player for us this season.” Enjoy the convenience of having The Sunday Post delivered as a digital ePaper straight to your smartphone, tablet or computer.
