Viewers of Virginia news channel WDBJ7 watched in horror as reporter Allison Parker and her cameraman Adam Ward were attacked during a live interview at 6:45am local time.

It is understood that the gunman, named as Bryce Williams, has attempted suicide.

Former WDBJ7 employee Williams also recorded his own footage of the attack, which has since been removed from his Twitter profile.
