Is Harry a lifelong singleton?

Post Thumbnail

The likelihood of Prince Harry settling down looks as remote as ever and his father is having absolutely no problem with that!

Harry, who’ll turn 30 in a year, has toned his socialising down a bit since his shenanigans in the USA brought some bad headlines.

Closer to William than many brothers are, he has also been spending a fair bit of time considering what kind of uncle he’ll be for new arrival, Prince George.

Harry will want to set a good example, and it’s clear to all who are close to him that he’s grown up considerably in the past 12 months.

Harry has charmed sports fans with his knowledge, enthusiasm and down-to-earth ordinariness.

Even his accent doesn’t sound as “plummy” as some of his relatives!

And he has shown how genuinely passionate he is about our armed forces, was enraged when publicity forced him to get out of Afghanistan while on duty, and loves meeting up with his military colleagues, who clearly respect and like him.

Harry has also, you may have heard, just agreed to race actor Dominic West to the South Pole at the end of the year, vowing he’ll “have a brew ready” for his opponent when he finally catches up with him!

These don’t sound like the actions of a man who’s targeted Miss Right and is planning to settle into domesticity and family life, like his older brother.

And why should he?

His father will be King, followed by William and now young George, so Harry has far less pressure on him to perhaps go rushing into a marriage without giving it lots of thought.

Charles, of course, was a few years older than Harry when he first married, and that one didn’t work out, so why take risks and be in a rush?

Could Harry perhaps be our most prominent lifelong bachelor, preferring to be free to climb mountains, serve at the front line and put his energy into polo matches.

He certainly enjoys the company of young ladies but doesn’t feel any pressure to find that special person to settle down with.

Many believe Prince Charles has often wished he’d done that, although he was a bit of an all-round action man before he married Diana, and certainly was no stranger to female company.

William was born for the Throne, and has known since he was a toddler that he’d always have to do the right thing and follow tradition.

For Harry, the world is his oyster.

Over in the USA, where they also love him but don’t really understand him, American showbiz experts already have Harry married off to Cressida Bonas.

He’s clearly very fond of the blonde, and jokingly told Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood to stay away from her!

But the gossip in the States is that he’s “head-over-heels”.

However, if Prince Harry is head-over-heels with anything, it’s probably with being young, free and single!
