The Springer Spaniel that is touring Scotland in a motorbike sidecar

FORGET walkies, this cool canine likes to travel in style.

Rune the Springer Spaniel has been turning heads as he tours Scotland with his owners on a motorbike sidecar!

Complete with goggles and a scarf to protect his flapping ears, Rune is the coolest sidecar companion since Sean Connery in Indiana Jones.

Motorbike enthusiast Helen Strong bought a Ural motorbike and sidecar combo from Russia just so she could travel with the 11-month-old pup.

She and husband Rudi have been going on motorbike tours every summer for more than 10 years, and they were determined that wouldn’t stop now they have Rune.

The trio are halfway through their three-month trip around Scotland and Rune has caused such a commotion everywhere they go that Helen is now asking people to make a donation to a dog charity if they want to take a picture.

And she says Rune could have looked even more distinctive but she wasn’t able to find anywhere that sold doggy helmets.

“We looked around for a helmet but couldn’t find one,” said Helen, who is a freelance business teacher.

“At first Rune didn’t like the doggles, as I call his goggles, and he still pulls them off occasionally.

“He also wears an old motorbike scarf to cover his ears.”

Helen is originally from Blyth in Northumberland but has lived in Germany for 16 years.

She says that Rune, who wears a harness and a seatbelt, has been the centre of attention since they left home and is documenting it all in his blog, Spaniel in a Sidecar.

With 3,000 miles already on the clock, Helen, Rudi and Rune still have another month in Scotland.

So if you think you see a dog on a motorbike, you’re not feeling ruff from the night before, it really is a spaniel in a sidecar taking in the sights.
