THE average Briton carries just £22 in their wallet, research has found.
A survey for mobile payments service Paym found people in Belfast tend to have the bulkiest wallets, stuffed with £30 on average.
This was followed by people in London, who have just over £25 on them on average, the survey found.
People in Nottingham were found to carry the least amount of cash in them, at £16 typically, according to the survey of more than 2,000 people.
Glasgow was the only Scottish city in the top or bottom five, coming in second bottom at just under £19.
Craig Tillotson, executive chairman of Paym, said: “As people carry smaller amounts of cash on them, chasing down money owed can quickly become a hassle.”
