Ashley Roberts says she’d rather face a Bushtucker Trial than eat haggis!

The former Pussycat Doll endured jungle horrors in I’m A Celebrity but claims that’s still preferable to the Scots favourite.

“I’ve seen haggis and when I found out what it was I thought I’d just leave it to you guys,” laughs Ashley as she chats to The Sunday Post before taking to the stage for Ant and Dec’s Takeaway On Tour.

“I did enough with dodgy bits of animals in the jungle, so I’ll leave my tasting skills there.”

The 32-year-old singer became the UK’s darling after coming runner-up to Charlie Brooks in 2012’s I’m A Celebrity.

TV offers flooded in and she landed a role as a judge on Dancing and Ice as well as a regular slot on ITV’s Saturday Night Takeaway. But Ashley admitted she almost turned down the offer that was to change her life.

“When they first asked me to do it I said no, I couldn’t,” said Ashley.

“I didn’t know much about the show but I knew there were snakes and rats and, being a girl, I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it. But a friend’s father had suddenly passed away from cancer and it struck me you never know how long you’ve got.

“I dedicated 2012 to doing something I’d never done every month. I skydived, rode motorbikes and decided I’d just say yes and go on this crazy journey.”

It’s a journey that has seen Ashley become so busy and popular in the UK that she’s upped sticks from sunny California.

“I’m missing my parents and they’re missing me but I feel I have to have this adventure.”

Ashley, Blue and Joey Essex will be at the SSE Hydro for three days from Monday, August 25, as Ant and Dec’s hit show returns to Scotland.

It’s the same magic mix as the TV show, with all the elements including audience surprises and a chance to walk away with a car in Win The Ads.

Ashley also showcases new single Woman Up, available to download from today, from album Butterfly Effect that’s out on September 1.

“We were chatting about how everyone is streaming music now I hope people physically go and download it!” adds Ashley.

Ant and Dec’s hit show is back in Scotland and Ashley’s one of the stars.
