Wave FM host Lynne Hoggan to join Pure Radio as station hits Tayside airwaves

Former Wave FM breakfast show host, Lynne Hoggan, is joining Pure Radio Scotland as the station takes over the Dundee, Perth and Tayside airwaves.

The presenter will unite with Canada-based Paul Harper to brighten up listeners’ late mornings and afternoons.

Perth’s own Hoggan will be hosting her show from 10 am to 1 pm, providing listeners with a variety of fun-loving music and unique family friendly conversation.

Harper – who will be presenting all the way from his home studio in Toronto for reasons currently being kept secret – will then hit the airwaves from 1 pm until 4 pm, navigating people through the lunchtime hours.

He will be filling listeners in on all the comings and goings from across the pond, while providing music, conversation and musings on his beloved football team, Aberdeen FC.

It comes as windup king Robin Galloway was announced as Pure Radio’s Tayside breakfast show presenter.

From July 6, the station – after successfully broadcasting in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirlingshire – will expand its reach to be available to listeners on FM channels 102 and 106.6 in Dundee, Perth and the surrounding area.

Rather than the traditional hourly news bulletins that other stations churn out, Pure presenters only talk about news if they know it’s of interest to listeners, with the mantra of ‘no news is good news’.

The station is taking a Scotland-first approach, with local weather and travel updates, limited ad breaks and more music than any other station currently on the air.

“I’m excited to play Scotland’s best music every day,” said Hoggan on Pure Radio’s move into her home town.

“Music can change your mood and I love how we can go from one of my favourite artists Oasis to a big 80’s anthem then blast out some Beyoncé, it’s refreshing not to hear the same stuff over and over again.”

Hoggan will bring the familiar flair Wave FM listeners have come to love and cherish from her time hosting her popular breakfast show with Stuart McCully.

“If you’re tearing your hair out with the kids being off until August and  you need some company, or if you’re at work and need some banter then I’m yer gal, also being a local lass I’ll have the chat on what’s happening in Tayside,” added Hoggan, whose show will follow the Robin Galloway Breakfast show.

“I’m buzzing to be on and we all have such a laugh at Pure radio so I hope everyone can tune in and laugh along with us.”

Harper, who had his first radio gig broadcasting in Dundee, said: “It’s an exciting time to be back on the air in Tayside, I got my first full-time gig here back in 1999.

“That feels so long ago. Back then Claudio Caniggia stayed in the same flats as us on Abercorn Street, the Mardi was the hot club in town and Olympia was still open.

“So much has changed at Tayside and Pure Radio is arriving at the perfect time.

“I’m on every afternoon 1-4pm and present the show from my home studio. I’ll tell you why when you tune in. You wont believe the reason and I know you’ll find it funny when my girls gatecrash the live studio.”

Catch Lynne Hoggan and Paul Harper in the Afternoon on 102 & 106.6 FM, on DAB digital radio or by downloading the Pure Radio Scotland app.
