Disgraceland: Taylor Swift

At the end of a list detailing graphic threats were the words: “This is why I hate Taylor herself. This is how I know I am Taylor’s soulmate.”

The alarming letter was written by a 26-year-old man and sent to singer-songwriter Taylor Swift in 2016, and earned the author a restraining order.

In terms of stalkers, Swift has a long, long list and it’s growing.

One fan drove almost 1,000 miles to deliver his love letters to her record label while others have been arrested outside her home armed with rope, lock picks and tools.

Her management company were so alarmed by the threat at a number of concerts that they deployed facial recognition technology to identify her stalkers.

A man was arrested for breaking into her home twice and was sentenced to up to four years in prison; he told reporters he would “probably” do it again.

The rock’n’roll history podcast Disgraceland usually focuses on the darker side of the music business from previous eras.

Sublime episodes from the series’ nine seasons include tales of murder, drugs and worse from the last 70 years of music.

From Fleetwood Mac’s implosion to rappers like The Notorious BIG and occult worship surrounding death metal in Norway, host Jake Brennan weaves facts with his own “transgressive fiction”.

That is, he speculates on what happened asking questions like: “Did Jerry Lee Lewis get away with murdering his fifth wife?”

Brennan’s latest series looks at Swift’s attempts to deal with a queue of men displaying frightening behaviour.

If that tale doesn’t interest you there’s a back catalogue filled with stories about your musical heroes as told, Brennan reckons, with the energy of a “slightly buzzed guy at the end of the bar”.

Sylvester Stallone wrote and starred in one of the most inspiring movies of all time in Rocky. He can spot these tales in other people too.

His new podcast series, The Comeback, features profiles of some of the most inspiring people in the world: from Maya Gabeira, who bounced back from serious injury to become a world champion surfer to Gerald Ratner, once blamed for tanking a billion-pound business.

Tenfold More Wicked

The fourth season of Tenfold More Wicked is called “Tiger Woman.”

It’s a historical true-crime story about a southern girl-turned Hollywood chorus woman, and her husband. In 1920s Los Angeles, Armour Phillips is a grifter, a conman with a smile.

His life seems perfect, except he’s married to a deeply troubled woman. Their marriage will end with a terrible murder…
