Scottish football transfer rumours: Rangers in talks with Liverpool over Ryan Kent, Ibrox trialist could join Celtic, Aberdeen’s Gary Mackay-Steven in MLS talks

RANGERS are keen on extending winger Ryan Kent’s stay at Ibrox.

Director of Football Mark Allen says the club remain in talks with Liverpool about what it would take to increase the length of his loan deal or to make the move permanent. (The Herald)

Mark Allen has also spoken out about Chicago Fire’s Matt Polster, who Steven Gerrard is running the rule over in Tenerife.

The US international, who can play in midfield and at right-back, had impressed on trial in recent weeks.

His compatriot, Andrew Gutman, was also on trial at Rangers but has dropped a hint that he might be heading to the other side of Glasgow by following Celtic on Twitter and Instagram.


Another player both sides of the Old Firm appear to be interested in is Jack Whatmough.

The 22-year-old Portsmouth centre-back is out of contract at the end of the season. (The Sun)

Celtic also continue to be linked with 25-year-old Columbus Crew defender Wil Trapp.

Meanwhile, Hoops new boy Vakoun Issouf Bayo was interesting Italian giants Inter Milan before his move to Glasgow, the Daily Express reports.

Aberdeen’s Gary Mackay-Steven could be heading Stateside.

According to Sky Sports, the 28-year-old has been in talks with MLS side New York City.

The Scotland winger’s contract expires in the summer.
