Scotland celebrates International Women’s Day

March 8th 2017 is International Women’s Day. While demonstrations and events are happening across the globe, leaders, business and charities in Scotland are taking a moment to pay tribute to inspirational and bold women.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who launched her mentoring programme today, wished a happy International Women’s Day to females all over the world.

The army gave a shout-out to all the women who support their services.

The National Mining Museum highlighted how women helped to shape Scotland’s mining industry.

The Scotland  Office pointed out that more than half the Civil Service workforce is female.

Transport Scotland let their Communications Manager do the talking.

The Scotland weren’t just celebrating women in Scotland, but all over the globe.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is Be Bold for Change, where woman are being called upon to help create a more gender inclusive world.

Seafood Scotland used Twitter to acknowledge the great work of their female staff.

Diabetes Scotland gave a big thank you to 54 female scientists who are working with them to changes the lives of people living with Diabetes.
