Second on the ten-course menu is the unique Golden Egg - Duck Liver Parfait, Yellow Peach Comote, Brioche Espuma.

The latest offering in chef Nico Simeone’s growing empire is his new ten-course tasting menu at 111 by Nico in Glasgow’s Kelvindale.

The £40 per person menu will sit along side the restaurant’s much loved Trust tasting menu, and will be available every Friday and Saturday only, from September 6.

Location

Located on Cleveden Drive in the heart of Glasgow’s Kelvindale in the west end, a hop, skip and a jump from Hyndland train station, and numerous bus links.

First impressions

A non-fussy, yet stylish interior welcomes you to 111 by Nico, with dark wood tables complimenting light grey furnishings and ambient lighting. Perfect for a cosy evening out.

Service

Exemplary. Our waitress was informative and knowledgeable about every course, as well as the matching wine to accompany the menu. Friendly and warm, we felt we were in extremely capable hands throughout the evening.

Menu

Nico exceeds himself with this new offering, every course was decadent and delicious, not too heavy and had just the right amount to have you looking forward to the next one. My personal favourite was the white polenta accompanied by aged parmesan, chestnut mushroom and truffle. The golden egg – a real egg shell filled with yellow peach comote and brioche espuma – was also a culinary and visionary delight, served on top of a nest of straw.

Ambience

The place was jumping, but there were enough staff to ensure everyone was more than catered for. It felt just the right amount of hip, but not pretentious.

Price

At just £40 for the ten-course taster menu, Nico yet again manages to mix fine dining with accessible pricing. The optional matching wine menu is priced at £35, and with six unique glasses from across Italy, is again, exceptionally reasonable.
