Sir Kenny Dalglish says that Leigh Griffiths’ future at Celtic is down to him from this moment on.

Griffiths was not included in the Hoops squad for their trip to France, with boss Neil Lennon saying he was “not happy” with the striker for reporting back to training out of shape.

Lennon also criticised his player for “social media nonsense”.

Writing in his column in today’s Sunday Post, Sir Kenny said: “It’s sad to see there has been a wee bit of a fall-out between Celtic and Leigh Griffiths.

“Neil Lennon has made his feelings absolutely clear on the situation on the pre-season tour of France, and the player has been left in no doubt as to where he stands right now.

“Rules are rules, and all players need to adhere to the guidelines given by the manager and his staff.

“If you don’t follow clear instructions, and your fitness isn’t up to the required standard, then you can’t expect to play football.

“Neil will be hoping for a positive reaction from his player.

“The ball is very firmly back in Leigh’s court, and everyone will have their eyes on how this develops.”
