A lucky couple from East Lothian have won a whopping £1million in the EuroMillions.

Alan and Claire Gray from Tranent said they’ll be spending the money on a new car and a holiday to Dubai.

The food-loving couple have also said they’re looking forward to some Michelin-starred meals after scooping the prize.

Calls went out earlier this week for the winner to come forward who hadn’t yet claimed the money.

Mr Gray, 50, a technician at an oil and gas company, said he was sceptical when he got an email notifying him he had matched a EuroMillions Millionaire Maker code on July 19.

He said: “At first I wasn’t sure if it was true but when I phoned Camelot and they confirmed we had won £1,000,000 we just couldn’t believe it.

“Things are now starting to sink in but it’s still pretty surreal.

“Our daughter lives down south so when we broke the news she thought we were winding her up.”

Mr Gray said he and partner Claire, 48, an early years practitioner, love to travel and dine out.

“We’re already planning a trip to Dubai towards the end of the year and I have my eye on a new car, maybe an Audi or Honda,” he said.

“We also enjoy going for nice meals so perhaps a few trips to some Michelin-star restaurants will be on the cards as well.”
