Just stand in awe and admire the cathedral-like magnificence of Grand Central Terminal, a railway station like no other.
And the New York Public Library, famous from films like The Day After Tomorrow, is as far removed from your little local library as possible – but brilliant for a browse.
There are happy hours at bar and restaurant chains all across the city that slash the food and drink costs, and the street food carts are brilliant for anything from a bagel to a hearty breakfast.
If you don’t have a data package for your phone, don’t worry. There’s free WiFi just about everywhere – including the subway.
SPECTACULAR ST PAT’S
St Patrick’s Cathedral on 5th Avenue, opposite Rockefeller Plaza, is simply magnificent. A lovely spot to sit and reflect.
There can be some amazing sale bargains with shops such as Bloomingdales and Macy’s slashing prices by 50% and more.
The CityPass also has discount vouchers and free one-hour bike hire allowing you to cycle Central Park and over the Brooklyn Bridge.
