Tree tops holidays to escape hustle and bustle of the city

Those looking for a break with a difference are following in the footsteps of Robin Hood by heading for the woods.

Getting-back-to-nature breaks are booming and Forest Holidays are one outfit catering for the tree-packed holidays.

They have locations across the UK, offering luxury log cabin accommodation nestled right in the heart of some of the most stunning forests Scotland and England have to offer, on exclusive Forestry Commission-owned land.

The company started in 2006 as a small venture with just three sites and basic accommodation.

Now it’s three times the size but still offers a relaxing retreat, whether for a short break or a longer holiday.

Each location boasts between 45 and 70 log cabins, which can sleep between two and eight people.

And with each one just a few hours’ drive from the main cities, they offer an idyllic base for couples and families keen to escape the rat race and experience the woodland world.

The log cabins are the perfect place to relax, with dramatic woodland views as well as underfloor heating and your own private outdoor hot tub. But if you fancy venturing outdoors, the options are limitless.

Cycling, canoeing and guided tours with forest rangers are just a few of the options.

The rangers can teach you everything from bushcraft, firelighting and flora and fauna to how to find wildlife during a twilight walk with night vision goggles.

Forest Holidays marketing director Jill Grinsted said: “Forest Holidays takes people back to a more innocent lifestyle.

“You get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in some of the most beautiful places across the UK.

“If you fancy an active holiday, there’s loads to keep you busy, but if you want a more simple, relaxing break, you can do that too.

“Whatever you do, we guarantee the woodland surroundings will work their quiet magic on you, making this the most memorable of holidays you’ll ever experience.”

Forest Holidays breaks can range from three to 14 nights. For more information visit forestholidays.co.uk.
