Island cruise fulfilled a lifetime ambition for Sir Alex!

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson enjoyed the VIP treatment in island cruise.

If you fancy a cruise this summer, there’s no need to venture abroad.

The Majestic Line offers luxury right here in Scotland, along the Argyll coast.

And if it’s good enough for celebrities like Sir Alex Ferguson, Emma Thompson and Pam Ayres, then it’s good enough for us!

They’re just some of the star clients who have hopped on board with the family-run firm, which this year marks its 10th anniversary.

The company, which runs cruises around the Scottish highlands and islands, first got its sea legs in 2004.

Pals Andrew Thoms and Ken Grant were holidaying together in Turkey when they came up with the idea. The Edinburgh Uni students went out on a traditional wooden gulet.

And they enjoyed being on the water so much they came home to Scotland with a masterplan…to set up their own cruise company.

The Argyll-based business runs cruises covering Mull, Skye, Loch Ness and the Hebrides on board two vessels, Glen Tarsan and Glen Massan. They’re converted fishing boats, each boasting six en-suite cabins and a skilled crew including a skipper, chef and engineer.

The exclusive trips provide a rare opportunity to island hop some of Scotland’s hidden gems as well as to get up close with dolphins, puffins and other rare sea birds.

The Majestic Line also offers a private charter service for people who enjoy the VIP treatment, such as Sir Alex Ferguson.

He chose the company for a trip around the Western Isles in July last year and described the experience as “the trip of a lifetime”.

General Manager Cushla Thoms said: “Travelling by boat is one of the best ways to see the beautiful spots that Scotland has to offer.

“And our exclusive cruises allow our guests to explore the country’s exceptional sights with some of the best hospitality.”

Cruises with the Majestic Line run from April to October. Prices start from £990 for three nights, £1880 for six nights and £3975 for 13 nights.
