Was Peter Capaldi’s destiny written in the stars?

It’s official Scots star Peter Capaldi’s recent appointment as Doctor Who was always meant to be!

The Sunday Post has uncovered sci-fi scribblings Peter made as a schoolboy nearly 40 years ago they show he was destined for intergalactic stardom.

Peter’s drawings made when he was just 16 feature in a magazine created in 1974 by pupils of St Ninian’s High in Kirkintilloch to mark the school’s centenary.

One of his illustrations is of a futuristic spaceman attempting to warp the space-time continuum to travel the universe.

The story called Galaxy Hop could be about Dr Who himself! It’s a spooky coincidence that raises the possibility Peter really is a Time Lord.

Peter’s other contributions to the magazine include cartoons, a poem called Scum and caricatures of teachers one of which had to be censored.

School pal John Robins who owns the magazine said: “This particular teacher was infamous for being a bit too handy with the strap.

“Peter drew him as a Nazi, complete with Swastika armband. The editor couldn’t let it through like that but didn’t change it much he just blanked out the Nazi symbol.

“I was a year or two above Peter but we were both members of the school’s climbing club. We loved it when he joined us on weekends away because he was very popular with the opposite sex.

“Whenever he came along, another half-dozen or so girls would sign up too.”

John says he remembers Peter as highly intelligent and very talented.

He added: “Looking back I suppose it was obvious he’d do well in life.

“I just wish he could go back to those days in his TARDIS and exterminate a few of those teachers!”

Peter has spoken in the past of having a miserable time at school.

He described being a target for bullies for his love of science fiction, being tall and not being very good at football.

He said: “I wish I’d known that one day the geek would inherit the Earth.”
