I admire Dr Leah

Apprentice winner has guts and determination.

I’m a big Apprentice fan and was delighted to be on the panel for the final show along with host Dara O Briain and comedian Hugh Dennis.

We recorded it last Sunday so I had to keep the winner’s identity secret until the show was transmitted on Wednesday. All I could say was that the winner was a woman and the initial of her first name was L, which applied to both finalists Luisa and Leah.

I wanted Neil Clough to win and I think Lord Sugar did, too. I have never seen him more reluctant to fire anyone, but Neil was let down by his flimsy business plan.

The eventual winner was the deceptively doll-like Dr Leah.

All that blonde hair and lip gloss has disguised the fact that she is a very shrewd cookie and far wiser than her 24 years.

I’m not a fan of cosmetic surgery even the non-invasive procedures Dr Leah will be carrying out but, in an industry where anyone can pick up a needle and jab it in people’s faces, at least she is a properly trained medic.

Obviously there is a growing demand for Botox, fillers and chemical peels from both men and women who want to try to stop the ageing process.

I wouldn’t want my face to be full of strange concoctions, but it appears I’m in the minority and Dr Leah’s dream of a chain of clinics and a skincare range will come true.

The whole industry is set to be regulated in the near future and Dr Leah welcomes that.

She has come in for a bit of stick since winning, but she has shown real strength of character and demonstrated she won’t suffer fools gladly.

I admire her guts and determination.
