Fireman Stevie McCrorie has become the first Scots winner of BBC singing contest The Voice.
The 30-year-old had been the favourite since week one and walked off with the title after beating fellow finalist Lucy O’Byrne
Speaking moments after securing the fourth series of the competition, he beamed: “I can’t thank everyone enough for doing this for me. I never thought it was possible.
“After this it’s down to business, and the charity single is released at midnight.
“I’d ask everyone who voted for me to go out and buy it. Thanks again.”
Stevie, from Alva, showed the bookies had it right by storming through to win the prized record deal on the hit BBC 1 talent show.
Speaking to The Sunday Post before last night’s big showdown he revealed he’s hoping to repay his Scots supporters by appearing at this year’s T in the Park.
“I went on the show to find a platform for my songs and to play big venues,” said Stevie.
“I’ve dreamed of playing festivals. T in the Park is the one I’d want to play more than any. I think there’s a chance I could play at the new Strathallan site, which would be brilliant.”
Stevie was mobbed by crowds when he paid a flying visit back to Scotland early last week.
And he admitted the backing made him all the more determined to win.
Stevie’s wife Amy and brothers Paul and Michael were there last night to see his triumph in the studio.
