10 quick questions for Alesha Dixon

Alesha Dixon reveals her nickname, what she thinks of her feet, and how she’d spend her last 24 hours on Earth.

What would you prefer, an extra hour in bed or in the gym?

I’d go for the extra hour in bed. I thought I could have been a PE teacher once upon a time, and I do like the gym, but faced with the choice it wouldn’t be my first pick.

Do you prefer a track suit or ballgown?

Ballgown. I like dressing up.

True or false you can’t beat pink diamant?

Definitely true. Anything pink is like a magnet to me. I’m a real girly girl.

What’s your nickname?

Friends call me Monica because I’m obsessed with cleaning and having a tidy house, just like Monica from the TV show Friends.

What’s your unfulfilled ambition?

To host my own TV chat show and interview Barack Obama. I cried on the day he was elected. I’d maybe get some of our politicians on too and, of course, some musicians.

Your worst feature?

My feet.

What does your voicemail message say?

It says “Alesha can’t come to the phone right now. She’s busy making hits.”

Do you prefer the stage or studio?

Oh that’s difficult. I love them both, but I’ll go for the stage.

Are youngsters too obsessed with celebrities?

Young people are influenced by the media. I took part in a debate about whether Marie Curie or Katie Price was the best role model, and I think young girls look up to Katie just because she’s in the papers a lot. It would be nice if women like Marie Curie were celebrated more.

You have 24 hours left to live. How do you spend the time?

I’d get together with my friends and family, some shopping, a party, reminisce, walk the dog, that sort of normal stuff. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been at the moment so I’d go with no regrets.
