1) Bin Lorry FAIThe inquiry into the Glasgow Bin Lorry tragedy was adjourned at the city’s Sheriff Court today.

In his closing submission Paul Reid QC, representing driver Harry Clarke, said his client would “carry this with him for the rest of his days” and insisted Clarke was not “selfish” or a “coward”.

A statement read on behalf of the family of victim Jacqueline Morton said it had been “a difficult, stressful and at times upsetting experience” and that the inquiry had “highlighted weaknesses in the system”.

Sheriff John Beckett hopes to report his findings before January 2016.

There was an unusual race at Hamilton racecourse today as SPFL mascots lined-up to see who was the fastest round the track.

World-famous Kingsley, Rangers favourite Broxi Bear, Celtic’s Hoopy the Huddle Hound and Dundee United stalwart Terry the Terror were among the larger than life characters taking part.

None of them managed to beat the racecourse’s own mascot who romped to victory in the 100m dash.
