Milan Djuric clear he wants a move to Celtic

Celtic’s move for Milan Djuric is back ON thanks to the Bosnian himself.

The Hoops had a bid of one million euros (£715,000) for the 6ft 6in tall striker rejected by his club Cesena earlier this month.

It had been thought the gulf between their offer and the Italians’ valuation of three million euros (£2.24 million) was too great and that the deal was dead.

However, sources in Italy indicate that so insistent has the player been about wanting to switch to Scotland that Cesena have now become resigned to losing him.

Celtic, with the encouragement of Djuric’s representatives, have returned to the negotiating table and a compromise deal of £1m-plus is expected to be tied up in time for the 25-year-old to join up for pre-season training.

Said a source close to the player: “Milan wants to play with Celtic and he is pushing for the two sides to reach an agreement.”

Manager Ronny Deila may soon find himself with more leeway on price with Norwich City reported to be poised with an £8m bid for Virgil van Dijk, a player his assistant John Collins on Friday described as the “best centre half in Europe”.

Any sale could also prompt a renewal of the Hoops’ interest in Parma’s Moroccan defender Zouhair Feddal.

The player, who has two years left on his contract, wants away following the club’s relegation to Serie B.

Parma are looking for in excess of £800,000 and have their Italian rivals Torino, Chievo Verona and Udinese all lined up as would-be buyers.

Heading to Italy, it appears, will be former loan Celt John Guidetti.

The 23-year-old Swede, a free agent having reached the end of his contract with Manchester City, is wanted by Lazio, a move he is keen on.

The player’s agent Carlo Cavalleri said: “John loves Italy, it is a country he would be very happy to move to.

“Lazio and Verona have shown an interest.

“Of course, there are other options open for him elsewhere in Europe.”

Guidetti hit 15 goals for Celtic in the 2014-15 campaign. The club tried hard to sign him on a permanent basis but were unable to meet his demands.
