SCOT Trad Music Awards are back, and set for another celebration of a fantastic year for traditional music in Scotland.

The ceremony, organised by Hands Up For Trad, will be held at the Caird Hall in Dundee this year AND next as STMA firmly plants its flag in Scotland’s blossoming cultural hub.

Sixteen awards will be handed out to the greatest talents in Trad music across Scotland in 2015, as well as a treat of live music from Peatbog Faeries, Duncan Chrisholm and Cathy Ann MacPhee and Claire Hastings – BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician 2015

Dundee’s own world renowned trad artist, Catriona McKay, will also be performing, having won intrumentalist of the year 2014.

Catriona McKay with long term collaborator, Chris Stout

Event founder Simon Thoumire said: “Since the Scots Trad Music Awards began, Dundee acts have featured heavily in not only nominations but in performances.

“There is such a huge amount of talent in the city, so we always planned on holding the awards here.

“Dundee is a stunning hub of creativity and it seems more eyes than ever are on the city as it produces and homes some of the most impressive art and culture.

“The Caird Hall, where we’ll be holding this year’s awards, is such a stunning venue and it’s no wonder so many artists choose to play here.

“We’re thrilled that it will be home for the Scots Trad Music Awards for the next two years and hope to see everyone next weekend for a spectacular evening.”

“Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to vote so far we’ve got a strong and diverse list of nominees.

“It’s been an eventful year for Trad music in Scotland and we have a lot to celebrate on December 5th make sure you join us for a brilliant night.”Tickets for the event are still available from 01382 434 940 or www.dundeebox.co.uk
