Fraser Forster was the only fit member of the England World Cup squad not to play in Brazil.
Roy Hodgson made wholesale changes in their final game to try to give as many of his group as possible some game time.
But I need to say I was disappointed for Fraser that he didn’t get the nod because, in my opinion, he is better than Ben Foster.
Just being included the in the squad was a fantastic achievement for my former player in the first place.
He probably had the toughest test out of all the keepers available because he plays in Scotland.
But he has spent the last two years performing in the Champions League and has been outstanding at that level.
Look at some of the saves he pulled off against Barcelona. He was terrific against Juventus and he has more than shown he is good enough to operate at that level.
The Champions League is the highest stage any player can perform at club level and if you can shine in that competition then you have what it takes to operate at international level as well.
I sincerely hope Fraser can use the experience of being part of the squad in Brazil to his advantage and continue to knock on the door for more international caps.
Joe Hart is the England No.1, and I accept that. He’s more experienced than Fraser. But if you are asking me who is the second-best goalkeeper available to England at this moment in time, then it is Fraser.
