Princess Cambridge At long last, the Regal has landed

The tiny Princess Cambridge made her first public appearance yesterday amid a barrage of flashbulbs.

The fourth in line to the throne was proudly shown off by mum and dad on the step’s of St Mary’s Hospital, London.

The tot still waiting to be officially named was born early yesterday weighing 8lb 3oz.

The proud parents appeared shortly after 6pm carrying their little bundle of love – who slept contentedly throughout the furore she’d caused.

Wearing a lemon floral dress Kate looked radiant with full make-up, her hair done and earrings in.

William carefully guided the new mum down the steps as the world’s media and cheering royal watchers greeted the little princess’s first public appearance with delirium.

The tot was wearing a shawl and a little wool cap to protect her tiny head from the cool spring evening breeze.

They disappeared inside briefly to place the youngster in a car seat – then placed her tenderly in the black of a swish black Range Rover.

They left to begin their life as a family of four, clearly utterly thrilled with their new addition.

They were clapped and cheered through the streets of London as they made their way to the princess’s new home at Kensington Palace.

Earlier hearts melted across the world as Prince George was taken to meet his new baby sister.

In matching outfits, the Duke of Cambridge and the little prince arrived at the exclusive Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, London, yesterday afternoon.

Prince George was wearing a blue pullover, a white shirt and knee-high socks as he toddled from the royal car into the glare of the watching world.

Scooped up from the pavement by his protective daddy and looking a little bemused as royal fans cheered and the world’s media went into frenzy he summoned up the cutest of waves.

William gave a matching salute to the ecstatic crowds before giving his son a peck on the head as if to say “well done”.

George was then whisked into the exclusive £5,000-a-night hospitral for a historic meeting with his new sister.

William was earlier sent to pick up George from nearby Kensington Palace in a black Range Rover he drove himself.

“We’re very happy,” he beamed, as the crowds cheered.

It was a thrilling, touching moment that capped a day of fervent excitement and activity.

The newest addition to the royal family and fourth in line to the throne was born at 8.34am yesterday morning.

Wills was present for the birth. Jubilant crowds toasted the happy news with champagne.

Meanwhile, well-wishers queued up outside Buckingham Palace to catch a glimpse of an easel in the palace forecourt bearing a certificate, signed by Kate’s medical team, confirming the princess’s birth.

Leading the well-wishers were delighted grandparents the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.

Clarence House said they are “absolutely delighted”.

William’s uncle Earl Spencer also reacted with joy, saying: “It’s wonderful news we are all thrilled for all four of them.”

The Queen was on an official engagement when she received the news.

Kensington Palace said in a statement: “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8.34am. The baby weighs 8lb 3oz.”

It added: “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

Political leaders took time out from their busy General Election campaigns to welcome the news.

“I’m absolutely delighted for them,” said Prime Minister David Cameron, leading the way.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said that he and his wife Miriam wished them “all the best as their family grows”.

Mr Clegg revealed he was invited into a voter’s house to watch the announcement on TV.

The Lib Dem leader tweeted: “On the doorstep in Sheffield. Thanks to the kind constituents who invited me in to see the great royal baby news being announced on their TV”.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was “delighted” at the news and offered her “warmest congratulations” to the royal couple.

The regal tot whose horoscope sign is Taurus shares a birthday with football ace and fashion icon David Beckham, who turned 40 yesterday. She’s also got the same birthday as singers Lily Allen and Engelbert Humperdinck.
