Rochdale midfielder Jimmy Ryan will return to the squad for Tuesday night’s League One clash with Sunderland after completing a three-match ban.
Ryan was suspended retrospectively after being charged with violent conduct over an incident in the opening day 3-2 win at Tranmere which was not spotted by the officials.
Loan signing Rekeil Pyke missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Shrewsbury with a knee injury and remains a doubt.
Ryan McLaughlin and Aaron Wilbraham are both still missing with the former closer to a return.
Sunderland boss Jack Ross will be without striker Marc McNulty as he looks to build upon Saturday’s 2-1 win over Portsmouth.
McNulty limped off four minutes into the second half at the weekend with a hamstring problem and is facing a spell on the sidelines.
Full-back Denver Hume returned from a groin injury as a substitute against Pompey, while midfielder Dylan McGeouch was unused from the bench following his recovery from an ankle problem.
However, Duncan Watmore, Ethan Robson and Glenn Loovens remain on the casualty list.
