Davie Wilson is relishing the prospect of locking horns with World Champions, Germany, after being told his spell as Gibraltar interim manager has been extended.
The Scot, who was in the dug-out at Hampden for March’s 6-1 defeat to Scotland in their last Euro 2016 qualifier, has been handed the reins for Saturday’s friendly in Croatia, and the June 13 visit of the Germans on Euro 2016 business.
Former Kilmarnock trainee Wilson is based on the Rock as a rehabilitation officer for the Royal Navy.
He was appointed interim manager of the national side following Allen Bula’s sacking three months ago.
Wilson said: “I have been confirmed as the interim manager for the next two games against Croatia and Germany, which is great.
“It is impossible to top going up against Scotland, given my own background.
“But now I’m taking the team to Croatia before facing world champions Germany. You can’t script that.
“I was also back in Scotland recently doing my B coaching badge under Jim Fleeting and Donald Park.
“I had a great 10 days and really enjoyed being in that environment.”
