Leicester City are crowned Premier League champions… thanks to the Sunday Post!

Leicester City were tonight crowned Premier League champions after closest rivals Tottenham drew 2-2 with Chelsea.

It means that Claudio Ranieri’s men cannot be caught at the summit of the table.

The Foxes’ fairytale season has been an incredible story from start to finish, especially considering the fact that this time last year they were battling against relegation.

Now, thanks to superb performances from the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater coupled with a tremendous team spirit, they are champions of England.

We like to think the Sunday Post played a part in it, after all we did help get Ranieri the job!

He told us back in October that it was an interview with us last July that led to an official approach from the Foxes.

“It definitely helped,” said Ranieri.

“Here’s how it happened. After we did that last interview, I was on holiday in Calabria. I didn’t know any of what was going on.

“One day my agent rang and said ‘Claudio, Leicester City have been in touch.

“‘They’ve read about you being interested in listening to an approach from them and you’re on a shortlist of three to become their new manager’.

“I then confirmed my availability, and things went forward from there.

“Two days later my agent rang back and said: ‘The Leicester president wants to meet you. We’re 90% there’.

“And here I am! So thank you, Sunday Post!”

Hopefully we’ll get an invite as the city of Leicester gets ready to party…
