Why I feel sorry for Kim and Khloe Kardashian

Reality bites for Kim and Khloe.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

For me, it was playing midfield for Partick Thistle as they vanquished Europe.

It was the same for the other lads in my class. The girls, meanwhile, wanted to be pop stars.

Our parents rolled their eyes but now I think I know how they feel. It seems a lot of young people just want to be famous…simply for being famous.

They want the success without the struggle. The adulation without the perspiration. And no wonder when they see the likes of the Kardashians.

Kim and co seem to be on the telly, in magazines and all over the internet all the time.

They’re now famous for having a TV show about themselves, but it’s hard to work out how they shot to fame in the first place.

It’s like trying to trace the source of the Nile, except with more selfies and makeovers.

It’s probably the reason they get a lot of stick from comedians, folk on Twitter and, er, even columnists in The Sunday Post from time to time.

I interviewed Kim and Khloe Kardashian recently, though, and I have to come to their defence a little.

I actually feel a little sorry for them now although not too much as they’re not short of a bob or two.

In some cases I was even quietly impressed especially with Khloe. She came across well and is pleasingly straight-talking.

Kim was Kim very professional and friendly, but I had a real laugh with Khloe. I reckon it’s a bit like a treadmill for them.

They’re famous for being famous, so it’s not like they can go out and make a new record or star in a different type of movie.

If they want to pay the bills they have to be pictured going into luxury shops or be filmed getting their nails done in salons, or continually tweet selfies of themselves at nightclubs.

I asked her about the crazy rumours that surface about her she’s had more column inches predicting what’s going to happen to her than what will happen in the General Election.

“The rumours that annoy me the most are the ones that say we don’t get on. Especially the ones about my mum. She’s the nicest person in the world!”

See the Kardashians love their mum like anyone else. A fine sentiment on Mother’s Day!

I’d just like to take this opportunity to wish my mum Isabel and sister Elaine a Happy Mother’s Day they’re the two best mums I know. And a Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there!
