Jeremy Piven is a Hollywood Jekyll and Hyde with his Entourage and Mr Selfridge roles

Post Thumbnail

Talk about a split personality.

By day he’s a mild-mannered Edwardian gentleman and entrepreneur.

By night he’s a foul-mouthed Hollywood power broker.

You have to wonder how Jeremy Piven finds the time to actually just be Jeremy Piven!

It’s true between the classy ITV period drama

Mr Selfridge and glitzy, sexy Hollywood comedy Entourage, Jeremy leads a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde existence.

Take last week. In the morning he arrived in London from Los Angeles after a flight I know only too well, before spending the day filming for series four of Mr Selfridge, as the real-life Harry Selfridge.

Then in the evening he hit the red carpet for the premiere of Entourage, in which he plays the larger-than-life entertainment agent Ari Gold.

But I wondered how

confusing it is for Jeremy to play such different characters and how he must have two very different sets of fans.

“The more authentically you play the characters, the more the audience gets confused,” he laughed.

“There’s more everything in this movie, the stakes are raised. But it doesn’t feel forced, it makes sense.

“I’m really proud of it.”

It’s the movie sequel to the hit TV series, set in the world of movie sets, celebrity parties and behind-the-scenes wrangling.

It’s a bit of a busman’s holiday for me, in fact!

I actually know Jeremy we get together once a year at ITV for the summer party and he’s been there the last couple of years.

He’s a friendly, funny guy who takes his acting jobs very seriously.

I went to see Entourage here in LA last week and it really is a fun romp for fans of the show.

If you like Jeremy in

Mr Selfridge then you could probably get away with watching the film without seeing the Entourage TV series first.

Even though you may have missed eight series of the show, good old Piers Morgan makes an appearance to fill in the back story.

Piers plays himself which makes sense. Well, who else could play Piers?

Well maybe it could have been a hunky A-lister if you believe Mr Morgan himself.

“They shopped around a bit I heard they asked Brad Pitt to play me but he wasn’t available.

“The producer said to me: ‘I’m going to offer you a part in your favourite TV show.’

“I said: ‘Is it Entourage? I’m in.’

“My sons are huge fans of the show and I told them: ‘Finally your dad is going to be in something you’re proud of.’

Well in, Piers as Jeremy’s Ari Gold would say: “BOOM!”
