Cher is one of the original MTV divas

She once sang about turning back time, but now I think Cher has found a way to do it.

Last week I was taken to a top secret location to interview the diva about her brand new single.

Everything’s hush-hush at the minute, but I can reveal that she looked sensational.

Her new single is called Woman’s World, a typical Cher power anthem. It’s taken from her forthcoming album Closer To The Truth which is out on October 14.

The song is actually really good. Who knows, it might do as well as her mega-hit single Believe which sold a staggering 1.7 million copies in the UK.

Even though I can’t reveal much of what was said in the interview, I can reveal this . . . Cher is very curious about the Scottish independence issue.

As soon as she heard my accent, she asked what I thought about independence, and whether Scotland would vote Yes or No next year.

Being the political expert I am, I hummed and hawed before realising I don’t have a clue what I’m talking about when it comes to independence. I was impressed a 67-year-old Californian diva was aware of it, though!

Perhaps she got it from her ex-husband Sonny Bono? He retired from pop music and ran for a seat in the US Senate.

Cher’s hair looks absolutely crazy in her new video too. It seems as if it’s bits of newspaper. Unfortunately I don’t think it’s The Sunday Post I couldn’t see Oor Wullie or The HON Man!

I’ll be able to reveal more from the interview with Cher in the coming weeks watch this space.

Speaking of divas, they’ll be out in force tonight. It’s the annual MTV Video Music Awards, which are being held in Brooklyn, New York.

I flew from La-la Land to NY last night and I’m flying back tomorrow night to cover it, so expect to see my groggy face on your TV screens. I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s big talking point. There’s always some sort of diva drama at these awards.

In 2009, Taylor Swift was famously interrupted by Kanye West when he stormed the stage, grabbed the mic and said Beyonce should have won.

Lady Gaga never fails to create headlines she once turned up in a dress entirely made from meat.

Last week she posted an exercise video online where she appeared completely nude. Gaga will be here tonight too, so goodness knows what she has planned.

The most famous moment in VMA history was down to two other divas.

Queen of Pop Madonna snogged young pretender Britney Spears on stage which made headlines around the world. Can you believe that was 10 years ago?

Britney’s now the ripe old age of 31 it’s more than 15 years since she first appeared in the charts.

That was brought home last week while I was at an Ed Sheeran concert.

He was supporting Taylor Swift the pop star he’s rumoured to be dating in Los Angeles last week.

I met Ed before his gig in a bar on Sunset Boulevard and he kindly invited me along. If you get a chance to see him live, take it he’s fantastic.

What’s more, he seems a very friendly, down-to-earth type.

Anyway, he covered Britney Spears’s single Baby One More Time .

There was a wee girl standing near me who seemed to enjoy it so I asked if she was a fan of the song. She’d never heard of the song or Britney Spears! That makes me feel old.

I do have an exclusive for you, though. Britney’s ex, Justin Timberlake, is expected to take part in a reunion of ’90s boyband ’N Sync.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but I texted ’N Sync member Lance Bass last week to ask him if he was going to be appearing at the VMA’s with Justin and the rest of the boys.

He sent back a smiley face, so I bet the band are going to be there.

Don’t say I’m not good to you!
