Police are probing sensational new claims that Princess Diana was murdered.
New information about the allegations has been passed to Scotland Yard by military sources, according to Metropolitan Police.
It is thought to include the allegation that the Princess of Wales, Dodi al Fayed and their driver Henri Paul were killed by a member of the British military.
Officers from the Met’s Specialist Crime and Operations Command confirmed yesterday they are re-examining the deaths.
They are believed to be probing new information passed to them by the parents-in-law of a former soldier.
It comes almost 16 years after the Princess perished in a horrific car crash in Paris.
A Met spokesman said: “The Metropolitan Police Service is scoping information that has recently been received in relation to the deaths and assessing its relevance and credibility.
“The assessment will be carried out by officers from the specialist crime and operations command.
“This is not a re-investigation and does not come under Operation Paget.”
Paget was the Metropolitan Police inquiry led by Lord Stevens that investigated the deaths.
It reported that Diana and Dodi were unlawfully killed as a result of “gross negligence” of Mercedes driver Henri Paul and the paparazzi.
A royal spokeswoman said there will be no comment from Prince William or Prince Harry, or from Clarence House.
